Tankless water heater questions, answered honestly.

The questions Nassau County homeowners ask us most often. If yours isn't here, call (904) 513-8584 and we'll talk it through.

How often should I flush my tankless water heater?

In Nassau County, every 12 months. Florida's hard water is rough on tankless units — mineral scale builds up inside the heat exchanger, drops efficiency, triggers error codes, and shortens the unit's life. Annual flushing is the single best thing you can do to protect a tankless investment.

How long does a tankless water heater last?

A well-maintained tankless unit lasts 18–22 years — roughly twice as long as a traditional tank water heater. Without annual flushing, you might only get 8–10 years before scale damages the heat exchanger.

What's the difference between Rinnai, Navien, Noritz, AO Smith and Rheem?

All five are reliable. Rinnai is the most common in Nassau County and has excellent dealer support — that's why we're Rinnai PRO Certified. Navien is known for high-flow models and built-in recirculation. Noritz makes very efficient condensing units. AO Smith and Rheem are typically what big-box stores carry. We service all five and can help you pick what fits your home.

How do I know if my tankless water heater needs repair?

Common signs: hot water temperature swings, error codes flashing on the display, water taking longer to get hot, popping or rumbling sounds during operation, or the unit shutting itself off. If you see any of those, call us before it gets worse — early diagnosis usually means a cheaper fix.

What does an annual tankless flush actually do?

We connect to the isolation valves on the cold and hot lines, circulate a vinegar or commercial descaling solution through the heat exchanger for 45–60 minutes to dissolve mineral scale, flush it out with clean water, clean the inlet filter, check combustion and check for any error history. The whole visit usually wraps in 90 minutes or less.

Should I switch from a tank water heater to tankless?

Most Nassau County homeowners benefit. Endless hot water, lower energy bills (typically 25–35% less than a tank), and you reclaim the floor space the old tank was using. The trade-off is a higher upfront cost. We give honest advice — if your usage pattern doesn't justify it, we'll tell you.

Can a tankless water heater really run multiple showers at once?

Yes — when it's properly sized. Flow rate is measured in gallons per minute (GPM). A 7 GPM unit handles two simultaneous showers comfortably; a 9–11 GPM unit handles three or more. Sizing depends on your home's incoming water temperature and how many fixtures might run at the same time. We size every install to the actual house.

Do tankless water heaters work during a power outage?

Most gas tankless units need electricity to run the ignition, fan and control board, so they won't fire during a power outage. There are battery backup options if outage resilience matters to you. Ask us when you call.

Where can the unit be installed?

Tankless units mount on a wall, indoor or outdoor depending on the model. Outdoor models avoid venting requirements but need protection from direct salt-air exposure. Indoor models need either concentric or twin-pipe venting. We'll walk your home and recommend the best location.

What does a service call cost?

Pricing depends on the work — a flush is flat-rate, a diagnostic is one charge, repairs are quoted before we start. New installs and conversions get an on-site quote. Call (904) 513-8584 and we'll give you honest numbers up front, no surprises.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold a Florida Master Gas License (#LI45230), carry full liability insurance, and are licensed to perform tankless water heater work in Florida. We're also Rinnai PRO Certified, which is the highest technician credential Rinnai issues.
